The City of Many Colors (& Hills)

This weekend’s destination: Lisbon, Portugal!

Where do I even begin?

Lisbon is so beautiful. With it’s colorful buildings and numerous fountains, I was in awe the whole time. And if you’re looking for a place to really test your calf strength, Lisbon has you covered! There are SO. MANY. HILLS.

I know they call it the “City of Seven Hills” but trust me it feels like a lot more than that.

And did I mention that they have a PINK STREET? Let me just say it again for the people in the back…

THE STREET WAS PINK! How cool is that? It was like something from Dr. Seuss or Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory (except it’s not eatable, I wouldn’t try it)

I’m starting a petition to paint all streets pink…more information to follow.

Honey, I’m Home!

We also got the chance to visit Sintra (a city a short train ride from Lisbon) and I am happy to say that I found my new home! It’s a little roomy, but it’ll do I guess…

Okay but for real we got to explore the towers and tunnels in one of Sintra’s BEAUTIFUL castles! The day we chose was a little rainy and foggy, but it really added to the mystical vibe of the castle (and also to the frizziness of my hair).

Needless to say, though, I didn’t stop singing Disney songs the whole time I was there… (OKAY BUT THE TOWER LOOKS JUST LIKE THE ONE FROM TANGLED CAN YOU EVEN BLAME ME??)

How to Keep an Art Nerd Busy: 101

I don’t know if you know this… but Portugal has one of the best (FREE) art museums. It had works from some of my favorite artists (Picasso, Dali, Warhol, Duchamp…) so basically I spent most of the day there.

It also had some great places to take artsy photos (and to practice your gymnastics skills clearly)

My World-Wide Coffee Addiction

SO the search for the best coffee in the world continues.. but I think I have found one that is in the running! We went to this super cute coffee shop that was just a short (35 minute) walk from where we were staying and they had some of the best coffee that I have ever tasted. And I’ve had a lot of coffee…

But if you take a close look at this next picture…. Yes that’s a Starbucks latte in my hand. Somehow I always find my way back. *Sigh*

4 AM? That’s not a real time.

The only slight drawback to traveling on the weekends is that sometimes you’re forced to wake up SUPER early  in order to catch your flight back to school. BUT I was able to snag this picture of the morning sky from the plane, so I’m not complaining!

Overall Thoughts:

Portugal is beautiful. Europe is beautiful. Life is beautiful.
